Stair Restoration is an international group of highly skilled conservators and restorers who apply traditional techniques to care for some of the finest furniture collections in the world. Established by Sotheby's furniture specialist Alastair John Stair in 1980, Stair Restoration is now owned by his son, Alastair Colin Stair, who is the fourth generation of this English family to work with fine antiques.

At Stair Restoration, we work with a wide range of conservation issues, from general wear and tear to fire and flood damage. Before any work is done, the history and condition of the property is examined carefully. This ensures that all restoration is sympathetic and appropriate to the piece and will not alter its intrinsic and monetary value.

Stair Restoration is distinguished by the scholarship that informs our approach. The company is led by Nigel Thomas, former West Dean graduate, who has extensive international experience restoring the finest antiques.
